PART 2: THE HORROR UNDER THE TONGUE

I immediately called for the attending physician.
Within seconds, three nurses and a pediatric surgeon were gathered around Tyler.
His mother kept insisting it was "just a cavity."
Nobody believed her anymore.
The surgeon carefully examined Tyler's mouth.
Then his expression changed.
I've worked with him for years.
I'd never seen him look frightened before.
"Get him into Trauma Room 4," he ordered.
"Now."
Tyler was rushed away.
As we wheeled him down the hall, he suddenly grabbed my wrist.
His eyes locked onto mine.
Terrified.
Desperate.
Then he whispered something.
One single word.
A chill shot through my body.
More?
More what?
Inside the trauma room, doctors prepared for emergency sedation.
The swelling had become so severe that Tyler was in danger of losing his airway.
The moment he drifted unconscious, the surgeon inserted specialized instruments into his mouth.
Everyone crowded around the monitor.
What appeared on the screen made several staff members gasp.
Beneath Tyler's tongue wasn't one insect.
It was dozens.
Tiny black bodies packed together inside a pocket of infected tissue.
They were crawling through tunnels they had somehow created inside his jaw.
The movement we felt under his cheek suddenly made sense.
Those weren't gas bubbles.
They were living creatures.
Moving beneath the skin.
Feeding.
Growing.
A nurse ran from the room and vomited in the hallway.
Another burst into tears.
No one had ever seen anything like it.
The surgeon immediately began extraction.
One by one.
Then ten at a time.
Then dozens.
The tray beside him filled with writhing black insects.
But the nightmare wasn't over.
Because scans revealed something far worse.
Several of them had already spread deeper into Tyler's throat.
And one appeared to be moving toward his airway.
If it reached his lungs...
May you like
He wouldn't survive.
