Today was the final hearing for permanent parental custody and guardianship.

Sitting at the petitioner’s table was Sarah Carter.

She looked transformed. Her blond hair was styled neatly, her skin glowing with health, her eyes bright and clear. Beside her sat Nathan, holding her hand under the table, squeezing it reassuringly.

Judge Vance then looked at Nathan. “And Dr. Pierce, your actions on the night of December 12th not only saved three young lives, but restored a family that had been broken by tragic misunderstandings.”

Judge Vance lifted her gavel.

“It is the order of this court that full legal and physical custody of Lily, Owen, and Ethan Carter is awarded to Sarah Carter, with joint legal guardianship granted to Dr. Nathan Pierce. The Carter Estate is fully restored and placed under a secure family trust managed jointly by brother and sister.”
