Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Execution

At 9:55 AM, the 50th floor of the Harrison Global Tower was buzzing with nervous energy.
The emergency board meeting had been called by Senior Co-Chairman Victor Vance. The topic on the agenda: Emergency Motion to Suspend CEO Michael Harrison due to Misappropriation of Corporate Funds and Mental Incapacity.
Victor Vance sat at the head of the massive, thirty-foot mahogany boardroom table. He wore a crisp double-breasted navy suit, a gold Rolex gleaming on his wrist. Surrounding the table were fourteen of the most powerful corporate directors in Chicago—billionaires, retired politicians, and institutional investors.
"Gentlemen, ladies," Victor spoke, leaning forward with an expression of deep, tragic concern. "Thank you for coming on such short notice. It breaks my heart to convene this meeting. As you know, my nephew Michael has been acting erratically over the past forty-eight hours. He has transferred massive sums of corporate-linked liquidity to unauthorized medical facilities, abandoned critical investor meetings, and appears to be suffering a severe emotional breakdown related to old family trauma."
Victor paused, wiping a fake tear from the corner of his eye.
"For the protection of the company, the shareholders, and Michael himself, I move that we immediately freeze his executive authority and appoint me as interim Chief Executive Officer."
"Seconded," called out one of Victor’s bought-and-paid-for board members from across the table.
"All those in favor—" Victor began, raising his hand with a triumphant, sinister smirk.
BOOM.
The heavy double oak doors of the boardroom were thrown open so violently they slammed against the walls, echoing like cannon fire through the high-ceilinged room.
Every head turned.
I walked into the room.
I was flanked not by corporate junior executives, but by four armed U.S. Marshals in tactical vests and two senior Federal Prosecutors from the Department of Justice.
Victor’s smirk instantly vanished. His skin turned the color of gray chalk. "Michael? What is the meaning of this intrusion?! This is a private board—"
"Shut your mouth, Victor," I said, my voice cutting through the room like a steel blade.
I walked straight to the head of the table, stopped right beside Victor’s chair, and set my leather briefcase down with a heavy thud.
"Michael!" one of the senior board members gasped. "What is going on here?"
"What is going on," I declared loudly, addressing the entire room, "is that the man sitting in this chair is not a co-chairman. He is a thief, a fraud, an embezzler, and a murderer."
Gasps erupted around the table.
"This is insane!" Victor screamed, slamming his fists onto the table as he stood up, his eyes bulging with rage. "Security! Escort these people out of my building!"
The U.S. Marshals didn't move an inch. Instead, one of the federal prosecutors stepped forward, holding up a federal arrest warrant signed by a U.S. District Judge.
"Victor Vance," the prosecutor announced loudly. "You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, racketeering, securities fraud, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder."
I tapped a button on my tablet, linking it instantly to the boardroom’s massive 85-inch 4K presentation screens.
Instantly, the audio recording from the USB drive began playing through the boardroom's surround-sound speakers. Victor’s own voice echoed off the glass walls, detailing his plan to frame Thomas, steal eighty million dollars, and murder our father.
The board members sat in horrified, absolute silence. Several of them looked at Victor with utter revulsion.
Victor sank back into his chair, his body shaking violently, his face dripping with cold sweat. The arrogant illusion of power he had built over twenty years evaporated in a matter of seconds.
"You..." Victor whimpered, looking up at me with terrified eyes. "How... how did you find this?"
I leaned down until my face was inches from his.
"My brother Thomas left it for me," I whispered coldly. "And his five-year-old daughter—the little girl you tried to starve into the dirt—brought it right to my front door."
The lead U.S. Marshal stepped forward, grabbed Victor by his shoulders, pulled him out of his seat, and violently slammed his face down onto the mahogany table.
CLACK. CLACK.
The cold steel handcuffs clicked tightly around Victor Vance’s wrists.
As they dragged him toward the door, screaming and pleading for his lawyers, the entire boardroom remained frozen.

I walked to the head of the table, took Victor’s former seat, and looked around at the stunned faces of the directors.
"The board meeting will now come to order," I said quietly. "We have a lot of work to do."
