Chapter 7 - The Battle of Westchester

By midnight, a fierce thunderstorm roared over the Westchester estate.
Lightning flashed across the night sky, illuminating the long driveway leading up to the iron gates.
Inside the mansion, Margaret and the domestic staff were secured in the estate’s underground reinforced panic room, guarded by six of Dominic's most trusted men.
Ella refused to stay locked inside the vault. She stood on the second-floor balcony overlooking the grand foyer, watching as Dominic walked down the marble stairs, pulling a silver automatic pistol from his shoulder holster.
"Ella, go back downstairs!" Dominic called up to her over the sound of thunder.
"No!" Ella called back, her jaw set. "I am not hiding while you fight for this house!"
Dominic looked up at her, a rare, breathtaking smirk touching his lips despite the danger. "You truly are unbelievable, Ella Marsh."
CRASH!
The heavy oak front doors burst inward as Marcus Kane’s heavily armed enforcers kicked through the entrance!
Ten men in tactical gear poured into the foyer, automatic rifles raised, their boots dragging mud across the pristine marble floor!
Leading them was Marcus Kane—a scarred, heavy-set man with cruel, yellowed eyes.
"Vance!" Kane roared, his voice echoing through the foyer. "You broke my deal with Ashford! You ruined my expansion! Give me the maid and your financial keys, or I’ll burn this mansion to the ground!"
Dominic stood alone at the base of the grand staircase, entirely unfazed. "You stepped onto my property, Kane. That was your last mistake."
"KILL HIM!" Kane screamed!
TAK-TAK-TAK-TAK-TAK!
Muzzle flashes strobed through the dark foyer as gunfire exploded!
Dominic dove behind the thick marble pillar, firing back with lethal accuracy!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Three of Kane’s enforcers dropped instantly to the floor!
From the upper balconies, Dominic’s hidden security team opened fire, dropping crossfire from above! The foyer became a chaotic battlefield of smoke, flying glass, and deafening gunfire!
Kane raised his rifle, aiming directly at Dominic’s exposed shoulder as Dominic reloaded! "Got you, Vance!"
"LOOK OUT!" Ella screamed from the upper balcony!
She didn't hesitate. Ella grabbed a heavy, hundred-pound antique bronze statue from the balcony pedestal and shoved it over the marble railing with all her strength!
CRASH!
The heavy statue plummeted twenty feet through the air, crashing directly onto Kane’s rifle, shattering the weapon and breaking his shoulder!
"AAAGH!" Kane shrieked in pain, collapsing to his knees!
Dominic stepped out from behind the pillar, racking the slide of his pistol, his eyes burning like hot iron. He walked up to Kane, pressing the cold steel barrel directly against the center of Kane’s forehead.
The remaining surviving enforcers immediately threw down their weapons, raising their hands in surrender as Viktor and his men moved in to disarm them.
"You... you can't kill me, Vance..." Kane choked out, bleeding onto the floor. "It's bad for business..."
May you like
"Business ended the moment you threatened my home," Dominic growled softly.
Dominic pulled the trigger once.
