We had permanently settled in a vibrant, artistic coastal town two hours south, where the air tasted of salt and pine, and the community was grounded, warm, and genuinely kind. Lily had enrolled in the local neighborhood elementary school, where her bright smile, artistic talent, and gentle spirit won her a circle of wonderful friends.
