Chapter 10 - The Vow of Iron and Roses

Three weeks later.
The morning sun broke through the clouds over the coastal cliffs of the Moretti estate, turning the ocean into a sheet of brilliant, shimmering silver.
The sprawling gardens were decorated with thousands of fresh white roses, silk banners, and golden ribbons. The air smelled of sweet jasmine and ocean salt.
Over two hundred distinguished guests filled the white wooden pews arranged across the green lawn—politicians, syndicate leaders, business magnates, and long-time allies.
At the head of the marble altar stood Aleandro Moretti.
He wore a custom black tuxedo that fit his broad shoulders perfectly, his face sharp, handsome, and filled with a peace he hadn't known in years.
Beside him stood Marco as best man, holding two velvet ring boxes.
The live string quartet began to play a soft, sweeping melody that echoed gently across the cliffside.
Walking down the stone aisle, hand-in-hand, were two little girls.
One was four-year-old Clara, wearing a cute yellow lace flower-girl dress, her dark curls bouncing as she tossed white rose petals onto the carpet.
Beside her was the maid’s daughter—the little girl who had whispered six words in Aleandro’s office three weeks ago. She wore a matching pink dress, holding Clara’s hand tightly, smiling happily at the clapping guests.
Then, every eye in the garden turned toward the top of the grand marble stairs.
Isabella walked down the aisle.
She was breathtaking. Her wedding dress was carved from ivory silk and French lace, cascading behind her in a stunning six-foot train. Her dark hair was styled in elegant waves, framed by a delicate veil that caught the morning light. But the most radiant thing about her was her smile—a smile free from fear, free from secrets, and filled with unshakeable love.
As she reached the altar, Aleandro stepped down to meet her, taking both of her soft hands into his broad, calloused palms.
“You look like an angel,” Aleandro whispered, his eyes shining with rare emotion.
“I’m right where I belong,” Isabella replied softly, her fingers tightening around his.
The minister stepped forward, opening his leather book as the quiet ocean breeze brushed against the floral arches.
“Dearly beloved,” the minister began, his voice warm and clear. “We are gathered here today to join Aleandro Moretti and Isabella Vance in holy matrimony—a union built not on shadows or fear, but on truth, sacrifice, and unyielding devotion.”
He looked down at Aleandro. “Do you, Aleandro, take Isabella to be your wedded wife, to love, honor, and protect her, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?”
Aleandro looked deep into Isabella’s eyes, his voice ringing out strong, deep, and true across the cliffside:
“I do. With my life, my honor, and every breath I take.”
“And do you, Isabella, take Aleandro to be your wedded husband?”
“I do,” Isabella wept happily, a radiant tear slipping down her cheek. “With all my heart.”
“By the power vested in me,” the minister smiled, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”
Aleandro stepped close, lifting her delicate veil, and pulled his wife into his arms, kissing her with a deep, passionate warmth that brought wild cheers and applause from everyone in the garden.
Little Clara and the maid’s daughter ran up, wrapping their small arms around their legs, laughing with pure joy.
Aleandro brought Isabella back up, scooped Clara into his left arm, and held Isabella tight against his chest with his right.

As the cathedral bells rang out over the blue ocean waves, Aleandro looked out at his family, knowing that the darkness had finally been conquered.
And on the cliffs above the sea, their true life had just begun.
