Six months later, the dust had settled. The company had been restructured under new leadership, and I had left the corporate world behind. The money Elena gave me had been seized, but a trust fund established by the whistleblower settlement—the reward for the evidence I provided—had replaced it, providing enough for Maya’s lifelong care.
