Chapter 6 - The Unbroken Horizon

Five years have passed since that day in the living room. The garden in our new home is vibrant, a stark contrast to the sterile, manicured lawn of the old estate. We have a dog, a sprawling porch where we spend our evenings, and a life that is defined by the things we love rather than the people we are running from.

Claire is back to her art, her paintings capturing the light of the sunrises we once watched together from the safety of that hotel lobby. Noah is in school, a boy full of curiosity and kindness, completely untainted by the shadow of a woman who had tried to define his world before he could even walk.

Sometimes, I think about the moment I tipped that table. It wasn't an act of violence; it was an act of liberation. It was the moment I stopped being the son of a facade and started being a husband and a father in truth. We never heard from Evelyn again. She drifted into the fringes of a society that didn't want her, a queen of a kingdom that no longer existed, left to preside over nothing but her own bitterness.

As I stand on the porch now, watching Claire and Noah play in the grass, I know that we are safe. We aren't just survivors; we are the authors of a life that is ours alone. The sun sets over our home, not as a symbol of the end, but as a promise that no matter how dark the night gets, we have each other. We are finally, truly, whole.
