The sun shone brightly over the lush green gardens of the newly established Hazel Thorne Pediatric Heart Center in upstate New York.
After taking back 100% control of Vance Logistics, I liquidated the company, restructured its entire infrastructure, and merged it back into my father’s legacy firm, re-launching it as Thorne Global Dynamics. Under my leadership as CEO, the company hit record profits within nine months—this time built on genuine innovation, complete transparency, and ethical governance.
I used fifty million dollars of my personal fortune to launch the Hazel Thorne Foundation.
The foundation was designed with a single, uncompromising rule: no bureaucratic approvals, no financial rejection codes, no dependent allowance caps. Any child born with a critical heart condition whose family could not afford treatment, imported medication, or surgery would have their bills paid immediately, 100% in full, within two hours of application.
On the opening day of the center, hundreds of families, doctors, and news reporters gathered on the front lawn.
Arthur Sterling stood beside me, holding a clipboard with our latest metrics.
"Over six hundred children have received life-saving heart surgeries this year through the foundation, Genevieve," Arthur said softly, his eyes filled with immense pride. "Your father would be so proud of the woman you've become."
I smiled, looking up at the sky. "My father gave me the tool to fight back, Arthur. But Hazel gave me the reason."
I stepped up to the podium set up in front of the marble memorial fountain, where a beautiful bronze statue of Hazel playing with butterfly wings stood in the center.
