Chapter 8 - Reclaiming the Empire

One month after the final sentencing, the morning sun was rising over downtown Phoenix, casting a brilliant golden light across the headquarters of Albright Global Apex.

The main lobby—once filled with uncertainty and betrayal—was bustling with energy.

At 9:00 AM, the glass elevators arrived at the top floor.

I stepped out onto the executive floor wearing a tailored white suit, carrying my father’s classic leather briefcase. Standing beside me was Ross Albright, smiling proudly as he walked arm-in-arm with me down the hallway.

Our entire board of directors, executive staff, and hundreds of employees stood along the hallway, erupting into a deafening round of applause as we approached the grand corner office.

Evelyn Reed stepped forward, handing me a digital tablet containing our Q2 financial expansion reports.

“Welcome home, Ms. Albright,” Evelyn said, her eyes shining with warmth. “The trust accounts are fully restored, our international patents are secured, and market confidence in Albright Global Apex has hit an all-time high.”

“Thank you, Evelyn,” I said warmly. “Let's make sure every employee who stood by us during the crisis receives a twenty percent stock bonus this quarter.”

The staff cheered even louder as my father opened the double doors to the master office.

Inside, my father’s old oak desk had been replaced with a stunning, modern glass workstation overlooking the mountain ranges of Phoenix. On the desk sat a framed photograph of my father, my late mother, and me smiling on a beach when I was a little girl.

My father walked over to the window, taking a long, deep breath of the clear morning air.

“You did well, Naomi,” Ross said softly, turning to look at me with tears of pride in his eyes. “You didn't just survive their attack. You ran the entire play better than I ever could have.”

“I learned from the best, Dad,” I replied, walking over to stand beside him at the window.

“So,” Ross asked, leaning against the glass. “What is the first order of business for the new CEO of Albright Global?”

I opened my folder and pulled out a deed for a brand-new $50 million pediatric cancer research center we were funding in downtown Phoenix—named in honor of my late mother.

“First,” I smiled, looking out over the city that tried to break me, “we rebuild everything they tried to destroy.”
