Chapter 6– The First Morning That Was Truly Hers

Two weeks later, Victoria woke before sunrise.
Not because of anxiety.
Not because she expected someone to question where she was going.
Simply because the apartment was quiet.
Completely quiet.
She made coffee.
Sat beside the window.
And watched the city begin another ordinary day.
For years, mornings had started with expectations.
Breakfast.
Schedules.
Keeping peace before conflict had a chance to begin.
Now there was only one question.
"What do I need today?"
The answer surprised her.
Nothing urgent.
Nothing dramatic.
Just peace.
At 9:30, she arrived at her new office.
The receptionist smiled.
"Good morning, Ms. Hart."
No one knew her as someone's wife.
No one introduced her through another person's name.
She was simply Victoria.
During lunch, a colleague invited her to join the team.
She hesitated.
Not because she didn't want to.
Because she was still learning that invitations did not always come with conditions.
When she finally said yes, the conversation stayed simple.
Books.
Travel.
Weekend plans.
No one interrupted her.
No one corrected her memories.
No one explained her own experiences back to her.
Driving home that evening, Victoria realized something unexpected.
Freedom wasn't loud.
May you like
It was ordinary.
And that made it even more valuable.
