CHAPTER 3: SISTERS BY BLOOD

The room was filled with tears.

Some guests quietly left.

Others remained frozen in shock.

Emily opened the final envelope she had brought.

Inside was a letter.

Written by Richard himself.

The letter had never been mailed.

Susan had kept it hidden for decades.

Emily unfolded the fragile paper.

Her voice shook as she read.

"If you're reading this, it means I never found the courage to tell you myself."

Rebecca stared.

Margaret covered her mouth.

Richard's words filled the room.

He confessed his regrets.

His fear.

His weakness.

Most of all, he confessed the guilt he carried for abandoning Emily.

The final paragraph left everyone crying.

"I don't deserve forgiveness. But if one day my daughters ever meet, I hope they won't hate each other for my mistakes."

Silence followed.

Emily lowered the letter.

Rebecca felt tears streaming down her face.

For years she had believed she knew everything about her family.

Now she realized she had only known part of the story.

She looked at Emily.

Not as a stranger.

But as another victim.

A daughter who grew up without a father.

A woman searching for answers.

Someone who had suffered because of choices she never made.

Slowly, Rebecca crossed the room.

Emily looked terrified.

Unsure what would happen next.

Then Rebecca wrapped her arms around her.

The guests watched in stunned silence.

Both women cried.

Years of secrets.

Years of pain.

Years of lost time.

Finally breaking apart.

"I don't know how to be your sister," Rebecca whispered.

Emily laughed through tears.

"Neither do I."

Rebecca smiled.

"Then maybe we learn together."

One year later, Emily attended Rebecca's forty-first birthday.

This time not as an uninvited guest.

But as family.

The old photograph sat framed on a table nearby.

No longer a symbol of betrayal.

But a reminder that sometimes the truth destroys the life you thought you had...

May you like

Only to give you a bigger family than you ever imagined.

THE END.
