Chapter 2: The Wedding Night Secret

The mansion was too large, too quiet, too cold.

Every hallway echoed. Every door felt like it hid something.

That night, Aria couldn’t sleep. Not because she was afraid of Victor—but because of the way he looked at her.

Not with desire.

Not with pride.

But with something heavier… like grief.

Around midnight, she heard noises coming from the locked room at the end of the corridor.

A faint sound. Like breathing.

Then—something that sounded like a whisper calling her name.

Aria froze.

Victor had told her not to enter that room.

But curiosity is dangerous when fear is louder than reason.

She walked slowly down the hallway, her hand shaking as she reached the door handle.

It was unlocked.

Inside, the room was not empty.

There were photographs everywhere.

And in the center of the room… a wheelchair.

Old medical records.

And a portrait of a woman who looked exactly like Aria.

Her heart dropped.

Behind her, a voice spoke softly:

“I told you not to come in here.”

Victor.

Aria turned slowly.

“What… is this?” she whispered.

Victor’s eyes were no longer cold.

They were broken.

And for the first time, Aria saw fear in a man who feared nothing in the world.
