Chapter 8 - The Crown of the Estate

Spring returned to the shores of Lake Michigan six months later, bringing with it the scent of blooming magnolias and warm lake breezes.
The Bellmore estate was bathed in golden afternoon sunlight.
In the grand courtyard where Vanessa Sterling had once screamed commands and treated the staff like prisoners, long wooden tables covered in crisp white linen were set for a magnificent celebration.
There were no high-society politicians with fake smiles. There were no arrogant corporate board members looking to exploit an alliance.
Instead, the courtyard was filled with seventy-three employees, their families, local vendors, guards, mechanics, kitchen staff, and gardeners.
At the center of the head table sat Ivy Bennett—now Ivy Bellmore.
She wore a breathtaking gown of fluid ivory silk, elegant and timeless, her short chestnut hair styled with a simple diamond-encrusted silver comb that had once belonged to Rose Bellmore herself.
Standing beside her, holding a crystal glass of champagne, Dominic Bellmore looked down at his wife with a gaze filled with absolute adoration and fierce, unwavering protection.
Margaret Doyle stood up from the neighboring table, tapping her glass with a silver spoon to gain the attention of the crowd. The courtyard fell into a warm, affectionate hush.
“To Ivy,” Margaret announced, her voice thick with happy emotion as she raised her glass high. “Who taught us that true power isn't about what you own, but how you treat the people who stand beside you. To the heart of the Bellmore estate!”
“To Ivy!” seventy-three voices echoed in unison, a chorus of genuine, joyful applause ringing out across the lawns and echoing off the ancient stone walls of the mansion.
Ivy stood up, her hand resting comfortably in Dominic’s strong grip. She looked around the courtyard at the faces of the people she had cared for, protected, and loved through every quiet moment of her life.
She didn't need a crown of gold or a title bought with political influence.
She had something far stronger.
She had built a home where kindness was never weakness, where dignity could never be cut away by the scissors of the proud, and where love had finally found its true and permanent address.
Dominic leaned down, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against her temple.

“Welcome home, my queen,” he whispered against her ear.
Ivy smiled, looking out over the sunlit gardens as the music began to play, knowing that the hope her grandmother had promised her so many years ago had finally, beautifully come true.
