Chapter 10 - A New Dawn for the Kades

Six months later, the spring sun was warm and bright over the manicured private gardens of the Kade estate in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

The iron gates stood open, framed by blooming cherry blossoms and guarded discreetly by men in sharp suits who nodded respectfully to visitors.

On the wide wooden veranda overlooking the lawn, Weston Kade sat in a comfortable rocking chair, holding a giggling, bright-eyed six-month-old baby boy in his arms.

Owen was thriving. He had chubby cheeks, a shock of dark hair, and a bright, infectious laugh that chased away every lingering shadow of the past.

A sleek black sedan pulled up the gravel driveway. The door opened, and Priya Osei stepped out, wearing a sharp blue blazer and carrying a small gift bag. She had recently been promoted to Head of Neonatal Nursing at a newly endowed children's wing funded entirely by the Kade Foundation.

As she walked up the stone steps to the veranda, Owen spotted her first, kicking his little legs and reaching out his arms with a happy squeal.

“Well, look who’s here,” Weston smiled, standing up and adjusting the baby against his shoulder. He walked over to greet her, his expression warm and relaxed. “If it isn't Nurse Osei.”

“Mr. Kade,” Priya laughed, accepting a gentle hug from the formidable mob boss before reaching out to tickle Owen’s chin. “Look at you! You’re getting so big you’re practically a toddler already.”

“He’s growing like a weed,” Weston agreed, handing the baby over expertly. Owen immediately grabbed a strand of Priya’s hair with a delighted gurgle. “And it’s all thanks to the best nurse in Illinois.”

“I’m just doing my job,” Priya smiled, adjusting the baby in her arms.

“It was more than a job, Priya, and we both know it,” Weston said, leaning against the wooden porch railing as he watched her play with his son. The harsh, granite edges of his underworld persona had softened into something grounded, protective, and deeply human.

The nightmare at St. Jude Memorial was a distant memory now—a dark chapter closed forever by loyalty, courage, and unyielding love.

Weston looked out across the sunlit lawn, past the iron gates, and into a future where his family was finally safe, strong, and whole.

The king had his crown back. But this time, he had something much better: a real family, and a debt of honor he would spend the rest of his life repaying.
