PART 3: THE HEIRS OF A WAR

Vivien woke up in a moving vehicle.
Her wrists were free.
But the world outside was a blur of city lights and rain.
Dante sat across from her.
Watching.
Not sleeping.
Not resting.
Just waiting.
“You kidnapped me,” she said weakly.
“No,” he replied.
“I extracted you.”
“That’s kidnapping.”
“That’s survival.”
She pressed a hand to her stomach.
The three heartbeats were still there.
Stronger now.
Or maybe that was just her fear making them louder.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“A place they can’t reach you.”
“And who are ‘they’?”
Dante’s expression darkened.
“People who don’t tolerate heirs.”
The word hit her again.
Heirs.
Plural.
“You mean… my babies?”
Dante nodded once.
For the first time, his voice lowered.
“They’re not just mine.”
Vivien frowned.
“What does that mean?”
He looked away.
Like the answer was something he didn’t want to say out loud.
Then:
“You were chosen without knowing it.”
The car slowed.
Outside, a massive estate appeared.
Hidden.
Protected.
Surrounded by silence and guards.
Vivien stared.
“This is insane.”
Dante opened the door.
“Welcome to the only place you’ll survive the next seven months.”
She didn’t move.
Then he added:
“They already know you’re pregnant.”
A pause.
“And now they’re coming for the children.”
Vivien felt her world collapse again.
Not because she was afraid of him.
But because she finally understood something terrifying.
She wasn’t just running from a man.
She was carrying something the entire world was willing to kill for.
Three heartbeats.
Three future heirs.
Three reasons this war had already begun.
And somewhere in the distance…
a new shot rang out.
May you like
Meaning the hunt had never stopped.
It had only just shifted direction.
