CHAPTER 3: The Name Behind the Mansion

Two days later, the Sanders family gathered again—this time not for celebration, but for confusion.

The mansion’s gates wouldn’t open.

The credit cards stopped working.

The household staff had left overnight.

And the “family accounts” had been frozen without explanation.

Rodrigo stood in the middle of the living room, phone pressed to his ear, growing more panicked with every second.

“This has to be a mistake,” he said. “Unfreeze it. My family has access—”

A pause.

His face went pale.

“What do you mean she authorized it?”

Across town, I sat in a quiet office overlooking the city, listening to my lawyer speak.

“Yes,” he said. “Everything was structured under her trust. The property, the accounts, the vehicles. Even the operating funds for the household.”

I didn’t react.

I didn’t need to.

This wasn’t revenge.

This was correction.

Back at the mansion, Rodrigo finally turned to his mother.

“She owns everything?” he asked, voice unsteady.

His mother laughed nervously. “That’s impossible.”

But even she didn’t sound sure anymore.

Then a letter arrived.

Hand-delivered.

Rodrigo opened it.

Inside was a single page.

No emotion. No explanation.

Just a signature at the bottom.

Mine.

And one final line:

You told me to leave with nothing. So I left you with exactly what you gave me—yourself.

The silence in the mansion after that wasn’t loud.

It was empty.

And for the first time, the Sanders name meant nothing inside those walls.

May you like

Because I had already taken the only thing that ever mattered there:

control.
