Chapter 4 - The 8:00 AM Eviction

The morning sun rose bright and cold over the pristine neighborhood of Buckhead.
Inside the two-thousand-square-foot master suite of the mansion, Jeffrey sat on the edge of the plush king-sized bed, his head buried in his hands. He hadn't slept a wink.
On the settee across the room, Cynthia was frantically packing diamond necklaces and designer handbags into leather suitcases.
“We need to leave, Jeffrey!” Cynthia hissed, her tone sharp and panicked. “If she goes to the press with that audio recording, my reputation is ruined! My father’s associates will see it!”
“Shut up, Cynthia!” Jeffrey snapped, rounding on her with bloodshot eyes. “Where are we supposed to go?! All my credit cards are tied to the primary corporate account! I tried to transfer funds two hours ago, but the online portal locked me out!”
Just then, Noelle burst into the bedroom wearing her silk robe, her face contorted in sheer hysteria.
“Jeffrey! There are trucks outside! There are police officers in the driveway!”
Jeffrey ran to the second-story balcony window and pulled back the sheer linen curtains.
Parked along the sweeping circular driveway were two Fulton County Sheriff patrol cruisers, accompanied by a large commercial moving truck and four uniformed private security officers wearing dark tactical gear marked Summit Security.
Before Jeffrey could sprint down the stairs, the front double doors of the mansion were pushed open with crisp authority.
Deputy Sheriff Miller walked into the foyer, holding a signed judicial order, flanked by Victoria Sterling and two armed security officers.
Jeffrey stumbled down the stairs, clutching his silk robe around his chest. “What is the meaning of this?! You are trespassing on private property!”
Deputy Miller didn't even blink. “Jeffrey Harrell?”
“Yes! I own this house!” Jeffrey shouted.
“You don't own a single brick of this property, sir,” Deputy Miller corrected flatly, handing him a thick stack of blue-backed legal documents. “I am serving you with an Emergency Judicial Writ of Immediate Possession issued by the Fulton County Superior Court. The owner of this property, Sutton Real Estate Holdings LLC, has revoked your residential license effective immediately.”
Noelle shrieked from the top of the stairs. “Revoked?! This is my son’s home! He built this company!”
Victoria Sterling stepped forward, her heels clicking cleanly against the marble floor.
“Your son is a former tenant-at-will, Mrs. Harrell,” Victoria said smoothly. “Under Georgia Code Title 44, the property owner has executed an emergency eviction due to criminal activity and structural degradation occurring on the premises.”
“Criminal activity?!” Cynthia screamed, walking down the stairs holding Austin in her arms. “This is harassment!”
“The criminal activity regarding felony child cruelty has already been referred to the District Attorney’s office, Ms. Vance,” Victoria replied, looking at Cynthia with pure disgust. “You have exactly fifteen minutes to gather your personal clothing and exit the premises.”
“Fifteen minutes?!” Noelle gasped, clutching her chest. “All my jewelry! My antique furniture! My designer clothes!”
Two Summit Security guards stepped forward, carrying large black industrial garbage bags, dropping them at Jeffrey’s feet.
“Your personal clothing has been placed in these bags, sir,” the lead guard stated neutrally. “All jewelry, vehicles, artwork, and luxury items purchased using funds from Harrell Enterprise Solutions or Sutton Trust are under a court-ordered asset freeze pending forensic audit. You may not remove a single item of value from this house.”
“You can’t do this!” Jeffrey screamed, grabbing Deputy Miller’s sleeve. “Where am I supposed to go?!”
Deputy Miller roughly shoved Jeffrey’s hand off his arm. “I suggest you find a motel, Mr. Harrell. If you or anyone in your party is still on this property in fourteen minutes, you will be arrested for criminal trespass.”
Outside the iron gates, three local television news vans had already pulled up, their cameramen setting up equipment along the sidewalk.
Cynthia looked out the front window and gasped in horror as she saw the news banners:
