Chapter 5 - The Legal Eviction & The Frozen Empire

Over the next seventy-two hours, while Maya recovered under the care of top specialists and Liam grew stronger in the nursery, I launched an all-out war against everyone who had participated in the conspiracy.

My family had built their luxurious lifestyle entirely on my success.

For seven years, as my engineering firm grew into a multi-million-dollar enterprise, I had been blindly generous. I had bought Eleanor a luxury two-bedroom condo on the Upper East Side. I paid the monthly mortgage on Chloe and Mark’s townhouse in Brooklyn. I paid for their car leases, their credit cards, their private club memberships, and their annual vacations.

I had done it because my father had passed away young, and I believed it was my duty as the son to protect my family.

I had been blind to the fact that my generosity had transformed them into entitled, heartless parasites who viewed my wife as a threat to their endless gravy train.

Inside my private office at Vance Engineering, I sat across from Harrison Sterling—the fiercest estate and corporate litigation attorney in Manhattan.

“The evidence is absolute, David,” Harrison said, tossing a heavy legal dossier onto my desk. “Because the Upper East Side condo and the Brooklyn townhouse were purchased solely under your corporate trust, we don't even need a prolonged eviction process. Under Section 8 of the New York Property Code, given the felony charges, we can execute an emergency lock-out immediately.”

“Do it today,” I ordered without hesitation. “Change every lock. Move all their personal belongings into a private storage unit in Queens, pay for one month of rent, and send the key to their defense attorney. After thirty days, auction everything off.”

“What about the joint accounts and credit lines?” Harrison asked.

“Revoked,” I replied. “I’ve already canceled the lease authorizations on Eleanor’s Mercedes and Chloe’s Audi. The repo company is towing both cars from their driveways this afternoon. Furthermore, I am calling in the personal promissory notes I made Mark sign three years ago when I lent him four hundred thousand dollars to start his failed real estate business.”

Harrison raised an eyebrow, a cold, approving smile touching his lips. “You’re bankrupting them completely before they even step into a courtroom.”

“They tried to murder my wife and child for vacation money, Harrison,” I said, looking out at the city skyline. “I’m not just bankrupting them. I’m erasing every trace of comfort I ever gave them.”

While Harrison executed the legal documents, my phone rang again. It was Ethan—Chloe’s brother-in-law, the social media influencer who had been livestreaming their arrival at the South Beach resort.

“David!” Ethan stammered, sounding terrified. “Bro, please! The police interviewed me this morning! I didn't know what they did to Maya! I swear I had no idea they stole the formula or took her phone! I just thought it was a fun family trip!”

“You posted three videos on TikTok mocking Maya, Ethan,” I said coldly. “Calling her a 'lazy stay-at-home freeloading daughter-in-law' while holding up the bottles of wine you stole from my kitchen.”

“I was just doing it for content!” Ethan cried out. “David, my sponsors are dropping me! The video went viral after someone leaked the police report! People are protesting outside my apartment!”

“Actions have consequences, Ethan,” I said smoothly. “My legal team is filing a civil defamation and harassment lawsuit against you by three o'clock today. You’d better find a good lawyer.”

I ended the call before he could plead further.
