Chapter 10 - Restoration

Six months later, the construction firm was thriving under a new, transparent leadership. My father’s name was once again synonymous with quality and integrity, and the employees who had been bullied under Derek’s reign were finally working in an environment of respect.
I stood in the office—not the one Derek had occupied, but my father’s original, sun-drenched corner office. I had kept it exactly as he left it. It felt like the right place to start my next chapter.
I had reclaimed the house, but I didn't want to live there. It held too many ghosts of the woman I used to be. "We did it," I corrected her, smiling.
I looked out the window at the city skyline. I had spent years being broken down, treated like a commodity, and told I was worthless. But the numbers never lied. I had used my skills, my intellect, and my sheer refusal to be erased to rewrite my own ending.
My lip was healed, though a faint, white scar remained—a permanent reminder of the night I decided to stop being a victim. I touched it lightly, feeling the smooth skin. It wasn't a mark of shame; it was a mark of survival.

I took a deep breath, opened a fresh, blank ledger, and picked up my pen. I wasn't just fixing the past anymore. I was finally, truly, writing my own future.
The story of the "worthless woman" had ended. The story of the woman who held the power had just begun.
