Chapter 6 - The Unbroken Dawn

A year later, the Montgomery name was no longer a synonym for cold, untouchable wealth; it was just a name. The conglomerate had been rebranded, its values shifted toward sustainable innovation and human-centric leadership. Vanessa had spent months in a management rehabilitation program, and while we weren't close, she had at least learned that her title was not her soul.

I sat on a quiet beach in the Mediterranean with Nathan and Lily, watching the sunset. There were no cameras, no board meetings, and no crystal chandeliers—just the simple, steady sound of the tide. We were a family in the truest sense of the word. We had survived the fire, and in doing so, we had forged something that was actually fireproof.

Nathan took my hand, his grip firm and warm. "You were always the queen, you know," he said with a small, knowing smile. "I was just the one lucky enough to be married to the woman who didn't need the crown."

I looked at Lily, who was busy building a castle in the sand—a real, sturdy castle, not a fragile one. She was happy, healthy, and secure in her own skin. She didn't care about the billions; she cared about the seashell she had found and the way the waves hit the shore.

The Montgomery empire had cracked, and through the cracks, a real life had finally found its way to the sun. We had walked through the vanity and the hypocrisy and had come out the other side. As the first stars appeared in the twilight, I realized that I hadn't just revealed my wealth that night at dinner; I had revealed my life, and for the first time, it was finally, truly, my own.
