PART 4 — The Woman Outside The Gate

The next morning, the Ashcroft family woke to chaos.

Victoria screamed first.

Her phone slipped from her hand and crashed onto the marble floor.

"Ethan!"

Everyone rushed into the living room.

On every entertainment website and social media page, the same photographs had appeared.

Pictures of Ethan kneeling in front of little Lily.

Pictures of him holding the child in his arms.

Pictures of Olivia standing beside them with tears in her eyes.

And one headline spread faster than wildfire.

"Billionaire Heir Ethan Ashcroft Secret Daughter Scandal Exposed After Four-Year Disappearance."

Reporters had already gathered outside the estate.

Dozens of cameras.

News vans.

Helicopters overhead.

Marcus closed the curtains immediately.

"They know we're here."

Olivia turned pale.

Lily sat on the couch hugging her teddy bear, too young to understand why strangers were screaming outside.

"Mommy, are they angry?"

Olivia forced a smile.

"No, sweetheart."

But inside, fear was consuming her.

Ethan's company shares had already begun falling.

Board members demanded answers.

Investors wanted explanations.

And someone had sold the photographs.

Someone had been watching.

Meanwhile, several miles away, a woman sat inside a black Mercedes.

She removed her sunglasses slowly.

Sophia Lancaster.

Thirty-eight.

Beautiful.

Elegant.

And once engaged to Ethan Ashcroft.

For four years, everyone believed Ethan would eventually marry her.

She had waited.

Patiently.

Confidently.

Until yesterday.

Until she saw the photos.

Sophia stared at Lily's image on her phone.

Her expression remained calm.

Too calm.

Beside her sat a private investigator.

"Are you certain?" she asked.

The man nodded.

"The child is his."

Sophia smiled faintly.

"Interesting."

She wasn't angry.

She wasn't crying.

She was calculating.

Because she had spent four years building her future around becoming Mrs. Ashcroft.

And she wasn't about to lose everything to a woman and a child.

Back at the mansion, Ethan stood in his office speaking to the board by video call.

Voices exploded from the speakers.

"You hid a child!"

"This scandal is destroying the company!"

"We need a public statement immediately!"

Ethan remained calm.

"No."

The board members fell silent.

"I'm not hiding anymore."

One man frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Ethan looked toward the living room.

Through the doorway, he could see Lily drawing pictures with crayons while Olivia sat beside her.

And for the first time in years—

He smiled.

"I mean my daughter isn't a scandal."

"I'm proud she's my daughter."

"If anyone has a problem with that, resign."

The board members stared in disbelief.

The meeting ended.

Olivia had overheard everything.

"Ethan..."

He walked toward her.

"I already lost four years."

"I'm not losing another day."

Lily suddenly ran over holding a piece of paper.

"Daddy!"

The word hit him like a wave.

She held up her drawing.

Three stick figures.

A little girl.

A mommy.

And a daddy.

Above them, written in crooked letters:

MY FAMILY

Ethan almost cried.

Almost.

Then the front gate alarm sounded.

Marcus immediately reached for his earpiece.

"Sir."

"What is it?" Ethan asked.

Marcus's expression changed.

His face became unusually serious.

"A woman is here."

Victoria frowned.

"Reporter?"

Marcus slowly shook his head.

"No."

"She says she's your fiancée."

The room froze.

Olivia stopped breathing.

Ethan's eyes widened.

And standing outside the mansion gates—

Dressed in white, smiling calmly—

Was Sophia Lancaster.

The woman everyone believed Ethan was supposed to marry.

And she wasn't alone.

Standing beside her...

Was a little boy.

About five years old.

Holding her hand.

The child looked directly at Ethan.

May you like

And softly asked:

"Daddy?"
