Chapter 10 - A New Dawn for the Moretti Family

The auditorium at Moretti Tower was packed to the gills. Dozens of reporters, flashbulbs popping like strobe lights, microphones thrust forward, all waiting for the reclusive billionaire to address the scandal rocking Wall Street.
Julian Moretti walked out onto the elevated stage alone. He wore a crisp black suit, his dark hair neatly combed, his expression carved from granite. He didn't look like a man on the defensive; he looked like a king defending his queen.
He stepped up to the podium, waiting for the murmurs of the crowd to die down until the auditorium was dead silent.
“Good afternoon,” Julian began, his voice carrying effortlessly through the room. “I called this press conference not to discuss my shipping routes, nor my company’s quarterly earnings. I called it to address the tabloid trash published about my family this morning.”
A reporter in the front row stood up. “Mr. Moretti! Are the allegations true that Miss Brooks is exploiting your position?”
Julian’s eyes narrowed into slits of ice.
“The woman referred to in those articles is Emma Brooks,” Julian stated clearly, his voice echoing off the walls. “She is not a gold digger. She is not an opportunist. She is the woman who walked into a house that had become a tomb and brought my three sons back to life. She sat in the mud with them when I was too blind to see what they needed. She taught my children how to laugh again. And yes—she has captured my heart.”
The auditorium erupted into chaotic chatter and flashing camera bulbs.
Julian raised a single hand, silencing the room instantly.
“To my mother, and to anyone else who believes that wealth, pedigree, or dress size dictates a person’s worth: let me make myself crystal clear. Emma Brooks stays. If the board has a problem with the woman who saved my family, they can accept my resignation tomorrow. Good day.”
Julian turned away from the podium and walked off the stage, ignoring the wall of shouted questions behind him.
Later that evening, back at the estate, the rain had stopped, leaving the evening air crisp and clean.
Emma was standing on the terrace holding a cup of tea, watching the city lights twinkle in the distance, when she heard heavy footsteps approach from behind.
Julian wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, pressing his face into the crook of her neck, breathing in her familiar scent.
“Did you see the news?” Emma asked softly, a small smile playing on her lips.
“I made the news,” Julian corrected with a low chuckle. “How do you feel about being publicly declared the queen of the Moretti empire?”
Emma turned around within his embrace, looping her arms around his neck, her dark eyes shining with tears of pure, unadulterated joy.

“I think,” Emma whispered, leaning up to kiss him, “being the queen of your heart is more than enough.”
Down on the lawn, the moonlight illuminated the wet grass where a single piece of rope lay coiled near the terrace—waiting for tomorrow’s game. The Moretti mansion was no longer a tomb. It was a home, filled with warmth, laughter, and a love that could conquer anything.
