Chapter 10 - Reigning From Above

Standing on the elevated dais overlooking the glittering ballroom, I raised my champagne flute as the orchestra nervously struck up a classical waltz to fill the tense silence.
Across the room, I spotted several of the very same guests who had applauded my humiliation at Penelope’s wedding just days ago. Their faces were drained of color, their hands trembling as they held their crystal glasses, terrified that my gaze might linger on them for even a fraction of a second.
They didn't need to worry. They were no longer worth my anger, nor my attention. Power wasn't about seeking petty revenge against insects; true power was rising so high that their very existence became entirely irrelevant to your world.
Blake leaned down, pressing his lips gently to my ear.
“How does it feel, Victoria?” he whispered softly.
I looked out over the sprawling room of trembling elites, feeling the absolute warmth of his hand securely anchored around my waist. The cold water of the garden fountain felt like a lifetime ago—a distant baptism by fire that had washed away the last remnants of the person I used to be.
I turned my head, meeting his stormy blue eyes with a serene, confident smile.

And as the music swelled around us and the entire room watched in breathless awe, we stepped out onto the marble floor to dance, the undisputed king and queen of Miami’s new era.
