Chapter 4 - The Preparation of the Strike

Over the next ten days, while my family basked in the oblivious comfort of their wealth, Harrison and I operated with military precision.

We brought in forensic accountants who spent seventy-two continuous hours auditing the shell corporations, tracing every wire transfer from the original 1974 trust fund directly into Georgette’s personal real estate holdings, Ottoline’s trust, and Alistair’s corporate investment portfolio.

The scope of their deceit was staggering. Every luxury car Georgette drove, every diamond necklace Ottoline flaunted, every square foot of the sprawling Lake Country estate where they hosted their exclusive parties—it was all financed by the dividends of assets that legally belonged to me and Junia.

They hadn't just cut me out of the family; they had used my stolen inheritance to fund the very pedestal from which they looked down upon us.

On Thursday evening, Harrison called me into his office to review the final injunction package.

“We have filed emergency restraining orders on all linked corporate accounts, frozen the primary Whitaker & Sterling trust assets, and initiated foreclosure proceedings on Georgette’s primary residence and your mother’s estate,” Harrison reported, handing me a leather-bound folio containing the stamped court orders. “The judges have signed off on every single motion. The element of surprise is absolute.”

“When do they find out?” I asked.

“Tomorrow morning,” Harrison replied smoothly. “Your sister is hosting her annual New Year’s Eve charity gala at the Grand ballroom downtown. Over three hundred members of the city's high society, prominent business leaders, and local press will be in attendance.”

A cold, brilliant thrill rushed through my veins.

“Good,” I said softly. “Let them experience what it feels like to have everything stripped away in front of the entire world, just like they stripped away my daughter’s dignity in front of their family.”
