Chapter 5 - The Final Extraction

Grant was finished. Within forty-eight hours, the warrants were issued. I sat in a safe house, watching the news report on the collapse of Sullivan Consulting. They were calling it the "Corporate Scandal of the Year."
I had one final signature to erase: my own.
I sat with Olivia, signing the final divorce papers. She looked at me with genuine awe. "I’ve seen women survive, Claire. But I’ve never seen anyone dismantle an entire world with so much precision."
"I learned from the best," I said, thinking of the years I’d spent calculating Grant’s profits and covering his tracks. "He taught me that if you have enough leverage, you can make anyone do anything."
Grant had tried to call me a hundred times. His final texts were pathetic—pleas for money, pleas for me to help him hide assets before the feds took everything. He had nothing left. His reputation was scorched, his money was in escrow, and his freedom was about to be revoked.
