Chapter 10 - A New Kingdom

Six months later, the wedding was small, private, and breathtaking.

It took place in the glass conservatory of the Lake Forest estate, surrounded by blooming white orchids and the soft melodies of a string quartet. There were no underworld bosses, no rival syndicates, and no politicians—just Aunt Ruth, Dr. Keller, Viktor standing awkwardly in a tuxedo holding the rings, and a very proud four-year-old flower girl in a fluffy pink dress who insisted on carrying her battered stuffed rabbit down the aisle.

Sophia wore a simple, elegant ivory gown that caught the afternoon sunlight, her hazel eyes shining with absolute happiness as she walked toward Dominic.

He stood at the altar, waiting for her, looking every bit the ruthless mafia king on the outside, but inside, a man utterly transformed by the love of a resilient mother and her fearless little girl.

When the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Dominic kissed her—not with the practiced coldness of a syndicate leader, but with the fierce, possessive tenderness of a man who had finally found his home.

At the reception dinner that followed, Emma climbed onto her chair, tapping her silver spoon against her water glass demanding attention.

The entire room went quiet. Dominic raised his eyebrows, amused.

Emma stood up on her chair, pointing a small finger directly at Dominic.

“You are still my favorite monster,” she announced clearly to the entire room.

The guests erupted into laughter and applause. Dominic threw his head back and laughed—a rich, booming sound that echoed through the glass conservatory, banishing every shadow from the house forever.

He reached across the table, taking Sophia’s hand in his, interlocking their fingers as they watched Emma dance around the room with Viktor trailing nervously behind her to make sure she didn't trip.

The mafia boss had come home early that gray November afternoon expecting silence.

Instead, he had found music.

And it played on, louder and brighter than ever, in a kingdom built not on fear, but on iron, grace, and unbreakable love.
