Chapter 8 - A New Dawn

Three months later.

The morning sun spilled over the private terrace overlooking the Hudson River. The Marchetti estate was quieter now, reformed under Dante's strict new security protocols. The traitors were gone, the Romano syndicate had been completely absorbed or dismantled, and peace had returned to the territory.

Sienna stood at the edge of the terrace, sipping hot tea. She no longer wore the grey cotton maid's uniform. She wore a soft cream knit sweater and tailored trousers. She had tried to move into a private apartment in downtown Manhattan after the night of the gala, but Dante had bought the entire building just to ensure her safety, visiting her every evening until she finally admitted she missed the estate—and missed him even more.

Footsteps sounded on the stone patio. Dante walked up behind her, wrapping his long arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.

"You're thinking too hard," Dante whispered, pressing a kiss to her temple.

"I was just thinking about how different my life was at 3 A.M. three months ago," Sienna smiled, leaning back against his broad chest. "I was crying over a copper pan, convinced my life was over."

Dante turned her around in his arms so he could look into her bright, clear eyes. The bruises on her face were long gone, replaced by a radiant glow that came from feeling loved, valued, and completely secure.

"Your life wasn't over," Dante said softly. "It was just waiting for me to find you."

Dante reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, velvet-lined mahogany box. He didn't drop to one knee like a conventional man might; instead, he held it between them, opening it to reveal a flawless, oval-cut diamond ring that caught the morning light in brilliant flashes of color.

"Sienna," Dante said, his voice filled with deep, unwavering conviction. "You came into my house as a servant, but you saved my life and healed my soul. I don't want you to ever feel like a guest or an outsider in this home again. I want you to run it with me. As my wife. As the Queen of this family."

Sienna looked from the dazzling diamond up into Dante’s dark eyes—the eyes of a man feared by the entire city, yet filled with endless tenderness only for her.

"Yes," Sienna whispered, a joyous tear slipping down her cheek. "Yes, Dante. Absolutely yes."

Dante slid the ring onto her finger, sealing the promise with a passionate, lingering kiss that erased every lingering shadow of her past.

The maid who had once scrubbed floors at three in the morning had finally found her true home—not in the shadows of the estate, but in the arms of the man who ruled it.
