Chapter 2: THE WALL THAT SHOULDN’T EXIST
At first, the staff thought the dog had lost focus.
“Maybe he smells something from the ventilation system,” one technician suggested.
But Rex wasn’t reacting to the air.
He was reacting to the wall.
Specifically… the left corner near the floor.
He growled, low and constant, then suddenly lunged forward and scratched violently at the plaster.
“Stop him!” someone shouted.
But the handler hesitated.
Because Rex wasn’t acting like a confused animal.
He was acting like he had found something.
A second later, the wall gave a hollow sound.
Thud.
The supervisor frowned.
“That’s not solid concrete…”
He knocked again.
Another hollow echo.
The entire hallway went quiet.
Within minutes, maintenance was called.
Then security.
Then hospital administration.
A small section of the wall was carefully broken open.
At first, only dust and insulation came out.
Then something metallic.
A panel.
Hidden behind the hospital structure.
“What is this?” a nurse whispered.
No one answered.
The panel had no official markings.
No maintenance tags.
No records in hospital blueprints.
And behind it… was a narrow space.
Not a storage area.
A sealed cavity.
The moment the panel was removed further, a strange smell escaped into the hallway.
Not decay.
Not chemicals.
Something older.
Something wrong.
Rex immediately began barking again, louder than ever, as if warning them not to go closer.
