Chapter 3: WHAT WAS HIDDEN INSIDE ROOM 306

Inside the hidden wall cavity was not empty space.
It was storage.
But not hospital storage.
Dozens of objects were carefully arranged inside the sealed compartment.
Old patient files.
Medical bracelets.
Photographs.
Small labeled containers.
And recording devices.
The supervisor’s face went pale.
“This… this can’t be here,” he whispered.
A technician carefully pulled out one of the files.
The name on it was redacted.
But the diagnosis wasn’t.
“Unapproved neurological experimentation.”
Another file revealed something even worse.
Patient transfers that were never logged.
Procedures marked as “nonexistent treatment protocols.”
And dates going back more than ten years.
Rex continued barking at the cavity, refusing to calm down.
As if he had been trying to alert them to something buried long before today.
Then the most disturbing discovery came from the back of the compartment.
A hidden audio recorder.
Still running.
Still powered.
The supervisor hesitated, then pressed play.
A distorted voice filled the hallway.
“If anyone finds this… Room 306 was never empty.”
Silence fell instantly.
The recording continued.
“There were patients here. They were never discharged.”
A nurse dropped her clipboard.
Another staff member stepped back, shaking his head.
“No… no, that’s impossible.”
But the recording didn’t stop.
And then came the final line:
“They’re still part of the system.”
At that exact moment, Rex stopped barking.
Completely.
He sat down.
Staring at the wall.
Quiet.
As if whatever he had sensed…
May you like
was still there.
Watching.
