“He gave me my purpose back, Maxwell,” Audrey replied softly, clinking her crystal glass gently against his. “I was drowning in debt, exhaustion, and despair when I first walked into Bellini’s. You gave me the means to save my sister, and you gave me a family I never even knew I was missing.”
Maxwell reached out, his warm, strong fingers gently brushing against the back of her hand. The cold, dangerous mafia boss was entirely gone; standing before her now was a man ready to offer his whole heart.
