Chapter 4 - The Confrontation

The National Business Gala was the pinnacle of the city’s social calendar. Arthur had been nominated for "Entrepreneur of the Year." He had dressed the part, wearing a sharp, tailored suit, but his mind was elsewhere. He knew his parents would be there. They thrived on public theater, and he had made sure they were invited—the ultimate trap.

As Arthur stood on the mezzanine, watching the room below, his father approached him, accompanied by a small entourage of socialites. Marcus looked older, his face etched with a desperate, hungry malice.

"Enjoying the view, Arthur?" Marcus sneered, his voice loud enough to turn heads. "It must be hard to breathe in such rarified air, knowing you’re just a fraud waiting to be exposed."

The room went quiet. The guests waited for Arthur to crumble, to apologize, to leave. Instead, Arthur turned, a small, sad smile playing on his lips.

"You’re right, Dad," Arthur said calmly. "It is hard to breathe when you’re carrying so much dead weight."

He motioned to his assistant, who projected a series of documents onto the massive screens behind the stage. It wasn't the awards presentation; it was a forensic audit of the Marcus & Elena Foundation.

"For years," Arthur projected his voice, steady and clear, "you’ve called me a failure. You’ve used my children as props in your game. But while I was out in the real world learning how to build, you were busy creating a masterpiece of fraud. The evidence of your embezzlement, your tax evasion, and your systematic abuse of your employees is all here."

The room erupted in whispers. His mother, Elena, paled, her hand trembling as she reached for her husband’s arm. Marcus’s face turned an ugly, mottled purple.

"You think this makes you a winner?" Marcus hissed, lunging forward. "You’re nothing without our name!"

"My name is mine now," Arthur replied, stepping forward until he was inches from his father. "And it’s worth a hell of a lot more than yours ever was."

He turned away, leaving his parents standing in the middle of a room filled with people who were now viewing them not as titans, but as parasites. The security detail, sensing the shift in power, slowly began to circle the couple. The era of the "failure" was over. The era of the Architect had begun.
