The "Architect" finally emerged. He wasn't a man, but a consensus—a small, elite group of global power-brokers who had used the Van Doren empire as a laboratory for social engineering. They contacted Clara not with threats, but with an invitation.

Clara and Dante retreated to a safe house in the Swiss Alps. The isolation was necessary. They realized that their previous battles were against the tools of the system; now, they were fighting the engineers.

"They don't want to destroy you," Dante noted, cleaning his weapon with mechanical precision. "They want to absorb you. They want the Van Doren legacy to continue, just with a more capable heir."

Clara stared at the fire. She realized then that there was no way to coexist with the Architect. One of them had to be deleted. She began to write a program—a virus designed not to wipe servers, but to expose the entire history of the world's power structures to the public.
