Over the next two weeks, the full extent of Ashley’s malice came to light.
With Marcus’s help, we audited every single financial transaction Ashley had handled. Not only had she skimmed thousands of dollars from the weekly household allowance I left behind, but she had also intercepted letters from Lily’s distant acquaintances and deleted voice messages from well-meaning neighbors, systematically cutting off every single outside lifeline Lily had.
Furthermore, Marcus discovered that Ashley had used forged references and a fake employment history to secure her position through a high-end domestic agency. It turned out she had been fired from two other wealthy households under similar suspicions of emotional abuse and financial extortion.
We didn't just fire her. We handed our comprehensive digital dossier directly to the district attorney’s office.
With security footage, audio logs, financial bank records, and medical testimony from Dr. Harrison, the case against Ashley was airtight. Within a fortnight, a warrant was issued for her arrest on multiple counts of financial fraud, elder/vulnerable adult abuse, and extortion.
Watching the police escort Ashley away from her apartment on the evening news wasn’t a moment of triumph—it was a moment of closure.
Back at home, the atmosphere of the mansion underwent a radical transformation.
