When he was sentenced, there was no dramatic courtroom appeal, no impassioned plea to a sister who was halfway across the world. He was simply a man who had squandered a fortune and, in doing so, lost his own humanity. He spent his days in a prison uniform, finally living in a world where he had to work for every single meal he ate.
