Chapter 3 - The Cold War

Winter turned into a harsh spring. The family was fractured. Those who stood with me faced the wrath of the patriarch; those who stayed with him whispered about our "disgrace." I spent my nights documenting every slight, every instance of emotional and physical abuse I had witnessed growing up, and every piece of evidence I had gathered regarding his business practices.

I didn't want revenge; I wanted truth.

Maisie was resilient. She began art therapy, painting landscapes where the mountains were huge and the people were small. She wasn't asking about Grandpa anymore. She was growing into her own person, one who knew that love wasn't a seat at a table, but a hand held when you fall.
