Chapter 10 - The Horizon of a New Dawn

A year later, the city had largely forgotten the scandal of my father’s downfall. He had become a footnote in business history—a cautionary tale about greed and mismanagement.
I stood on the balcony of a new penthouse, overlooking the skyline that I had helped reshape. I was no longer interested in the drama or the retribution. I had built a new, stronger company, one that prioritized integrity over ego, and I had surrounded myself with people who valued my competence, not just my name.

There was no request for money, no threats, and no excuses. Just a brief, shaky acknowledgment of the truth: “I see what I lost. I hope you find the peace I could never offer.”

I looked at my reflection in the window—I saw a woman with steel in her spine and a heart that was finally, truly free.

I picked up my phone and made a call to my assistant. "Clear my schedule for the afternoon," I said, my voice light. "I think it’s time to go for a drive. Anywhere but here."
I stepped out of the office and into the elevator, descending into a world that no longer had the power to hurt me. The past was a closed door. The future was wide open, and for the first time in my life, I wasn't looking back.
