The house of cards didn't just fall; it incinerated. With Daniel in custody and the financial audit being presented to the court, the authorities turned their attention to his accomplice.
Vanessa was brought in for questioning two days later. The interrogation room was a stark, unforgiving place. Outside, through a one-way mirror, I watched the interrogation unfold. She was dressed in her best silk, attempting to play the role of the sophisticated business owner, but the facade was cracking under the pressure of the detectives’ questions.
"Daniel did all of it," she snapped, her voice high and brittle. "I just followed his lead. He’s the one who handled the accounts. He’s the one who promised me the money!"

She stared at the transcript, her face draining of color. The realization that her brother had been recorded, and that she was now fully implicated in a conspiracy to commit financial fraud, shattered her composure. She began to cry—not out of remorse, but out of a desperate, selfish terror. She started spilling everything: every lie, every plan, every attempt they had made to isolate me. She betrayed him entirely, hoping to trade his head for her freedom. It was the final, ugly nail in the coffin of their twisted alliance.
