Chapter 8 - The Queen of the Ashford Empire

One month later.

The winter snow had begun to fall over New York City, dusting the grand stone courtyard of the Ashford estate in a soft blanket of white.

The heavy iron gates were wide open. Inside the grand ballroom of the estate, there were no guns, no smoke, and no terrified heiresses. Instead, the room was filled with hundreds of white roses, soft candle light, and classical music playing softly from a grand piano.

The Five Families had been restructured. The traitors were gone, replaced by loyal lieutenants who understood that the Ashford reign was absolute and unbreakable.

At the head of the altar stood Kendrick Ashford, looking strikingly handsome in a black tuxedo. Beside him stood his chief of security, Marcus, who wore a clean suit and a proud smile.

The heavy double doors opened.

Penny walked down the aisle first, wearing a small white dress with a flower crown in her hair. She tossed rose petals onto the carpet with a bright, joyful smile. Beside her walked Titan, wearing a white silk bow around his massive neck, moving proudly like a royal bodyguard.

Then came Willa.

She was radiant in a breathtaking white lace gown that flowed behind her like a winter cloud. She held a bouquet of white orchids, her dark hair framed by a delicate veil. But the most beautiful thing about her was the light in her eyes—the look of a woman who was no longer running, no longer hiding, and no longer afraid.

She walked down the aisle, her gaze locked onto Kendrick.

When she reached the altar, Kendrick stepped down, taking her hand in his. His calloused fingers were warm, steady, and filled with an overwhelming tenderness.

"You are breathtaking," Kendrick whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

"You don't look so bad yourself, Mr. Ashford," Willa teased softly.

Elder Vance, who had survived the night at the Plaza and now served as the senior advisor to the syndicate, stood before them, holding the ancient ledger of the Five Families.

"In the presence of the syndicate and under the laws of our ancestors," Elder Vance proclaimed, his deep voice echoing through the hall, "I pronounce Kendrick Ashford and Willa Vance to be husband and wife. Matriarch and Commander of the East Coast."

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause. Powerful bosses, hardened soldiers, and estate staff cheered as Kendrick pulled Willa into his arms, dipping her slightly as he pressed his lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their eternal bond.

Titan let out a deep, booming bark of approval, while Penny jumped up and down, clapping her tiny hands.

Later that evening, as the wedding reception continued downstairs, Kendrick and Willa stood out on the private upper balcony overlooking the snow-covered estate gardens.

Kendrick stood behind her, his strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against his chest to keep her warm against the winter chill. Willa leaned her head back against his shoulder, holding a warm glass of cider.

Down in the courtyard below, Penny was playing in the snow with Titan, their laughter drifting up through the quiet night air.

"What are you thinking about?" Kendrick asked softly, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"I was thinking about four weeks ago," Willa said, turning her head to look into his dark grey eyes. "I was standing in a corner holding an empty silver tray, terrified that I wouldn't have enough money to pay rent. I thought my life was over."

Kendrick smiled, leaning down to press a soft kiss against her neck. "And now?"

Willa turned around in his arms, wrapping her hands around his neck, looking at the man who had given her a home, a daughter, and a love stronger than death itself.

"Now," Willa whispered, her heart overflowing with complete, unshakeable peace, "I'm right where I belong."

Kendrick kissed her again under the falling snow, holding the queen of his empire close against his heart, safe in the knowledge that their family was finally whole.
