Chapter 10 - The Dynasty of the Rose

Six months later, the spring sun was shining brightly over Lincoln Park, casting warm rays across the sidewalk outside Brooks and Bloom.
The shop was thriving. In fact, it had expanded into the adjacent storefront, now operating as both a boutique florist and a high-end botanical design studio for Chicago’s elite.
Inside, Amelia stood behind the counter arranging a massive bouquet of deep red crimson peonies—her favorite—when the bell above the door chimed.
A sleek, elegant woman in a tailored gray coat walked in, holding a small baby wrapped in a fine cashmere blanket.
Isabella Moretti smiled warmly as she approached the counter, stepping aside to reveal the tiny, sleeping infant nestled in her arms.
“She fell asleep in the car on the way over,” Isabella whispered happily, looking down at her granddaughter.
Amelia set down her shears, wiping her hands on a linen apron as she walked around the counter to lean over the stroller. Sleeping peacefully against the soft blanket was a baby girl with a shock of dark hair and tiny, perfect fingers.
“She looks just like her father,” Amelia said softly, a bright, radiant smile breaking across her face.
The back office door opened, and Dante Moretti stepped out, wearing a simple black shirt with his sleeves rolled up, carrying a stack of delivery invoices. He stopped when he saw Amelia and his mother standing by the counter, a soft, profound look of absolute contentment crossing his stern features.
He walked over, wrapping his strong arms around Amelia’s waist from behind, resting his chin comfortably on her shoulder as he looked down at his daughter.
“She has your eyes,” Dante murmured against Amelia’s neck, kissing her cheek right over the spot where a red handprint had once left a mark months ago.

Amelia leaned back against his solid, powerful frame, resting her hands over his arms. She looked out the reinforced glass window at the busy Chicago street, watching the ordinary people walking by, unaware of the powerful empire that protected them from the shadows.
She wasn't just a florist from the South Side anymore. She was the heart of the Moretti dynasty. And as she looked up into Dante’s stormy grey eyes, she knew that no matter what storms ever tried to roll across the city, she was exactly where she belonged.
