Chapter 10 - Dawn Over Vale Meridian

The sun rose over Lake Michigan, painting the Chicago skyline in brilliant shades of amber, rose, and gold.

From the floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse, the city was waking up—busy, chaotic, and relentless. But inside the glass walls, there was only peace.

Mara stood by the window, wrapped in Luca’s arms, holding a warm mug of coffee as they watched the morning traffic move like tiny ants far below.

The bruises were gone. The fear was gone. The shadows of the past had been swept away by a man who refused to let anyone touch what belonged to him.

“Ready for the morning briefing?” Luca asked, pressing a warm kiss to the crown of her head.

Mara turned in his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck with a bright, radiant smile that could rival the sunrise outside.

“Always, Mr. Vale.”

“Luca,” he corrected softly.

“Luca,” she agreed, and as his lips met hers once more, the most feared boss in Chicago knew he had finally won the only battle that mattered.
