Chapter 9 - Closure and Final Judgment

Two years after the harrowing night of the baby shower, the seasons turned once again, bringing the crisp, invigorating air of autumn.
Grant Ashford was serving his sentence in a maximum-security federal facility upstate, far removed from the high-society galas and champagne toasts he once considered his birthright. His parents lived in a modest, two-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of New Jersey, surviving on a dwindling social security stipend and entirely ignored by the elite circles that once bowed to their name.
Chloe Jenkins was currently serving a three-year sentence in a federal minimum-security camp for wire fraud, her dreams of high society permanently shattered.

Around the candlelit dining table sat Dr. Vance, Marcus, Elena, my father, and little Clara—who was now babbling happily in her high chair, feeding bits of roasted vegetables to our golden retriever.
