The confrontation did not happen with a shout, but with a cold, calculated silence. When David returned to the hospital to "take them home," he was met not by his subservient wife, but by the weight of the law.

As he walked down the hallway, looking every bit the polished, concerned father, two officers stepped out from behind the nurses' station. The look on his face was one of genuine confusion—the ultimate performance.

"What is this?" he asked, his voice steady. "I am here to collect my wife and daughter."

Sarah stepped forward from the shadows of the doorway. She stood taller than she had in years. "You aren't collecting anyone, David," she said, her voice clear and devoid of fear. "We know about the chemicals. We know about the 'audits.' And we know exactly who you are."
