Chapter 7 - Breaking the Syndicate

Over the next forty-eight hours, the fallout from the Sterling Mansion scandal sent shockwaves across the global business community and the national news networks.
Front-page headlines across the country flashed the extraordinary story:
"THE ATLANTIC GHOST RETURNS: DROWNED STERLING PATRIARCH ALIVE AFTER 40 YEARS; EMPIRE RECLAIMED, BROTHER ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND FRAUD."
The federal investigation unfolded with terrifying speed. With the master ledgers and Julian’s financial tracking data fully decrypted, federal agents executed warrants across three continents.
Dr. Vance’s old associates, the corrupt orphanage directors in Zurich who had assisted in altering David’s birth records, and the crooked estate attorneys who had facilitated the theft of the Sterling trust were arrested one by one.
Inside the federal court in Manhattan, a preliminary hearing was convened to formally transfer the entire Sterling corporate infrastructure back to its rightful owners.
Sitting in the front row of the courtroom were Clara, Julian, and David. Clara was no longer wearing her threadbare coat; she wore a simple, elegant dark blue silk dress, her silver hair styled neatly, her posture radiant with quiet grace and dignity.
Beside her sat David, wearing a sharp grey suit. The shock of his true identity had settled into a profound sense of purpose. For years, he had felt like an outsider within the Sterling family, constantly pushed down by Victor. Now, knowing he was the true son of Julian and Clara gave him an unshakeable sense of clarity.
Judge Margaret Chen slammed her gavel down on the bench.
"Based on the conclusive forensic evidence, the DNA verification submitted by the State, and the verified original codicils," Judge Chen ruled, her voice reverberating through the courtroom, "this court hereby invalidates all legal filings, corporate transfers, and asset seizures executed by Victor Sterling between the years 1986 and the present day."
The judge looked over at Julian, Clara, and David with a warm, approving smile.
"Full control of the Sterling Corporation, its subsidiaries, physical real estate, and global liquid assets—currently valued at four point two billion dollars—is hereby restored in full to Julian Sterling, Clara Vance-Sterling, and Arthur Sterling Jr."
