Chapter 6 - The Weight of the Spotlight

The aftermath of the Foundation Gala was immediate and suffocating. Isabella was no longer a hidden secret; she was the "Ballerina of the Shadows," a headline that dominated every art magazine and gossip column. The sudden fame was a different kind of burden. Reporters camped outside her old apartment building, and agents sent constant, aggressive demands for interviews and contracts.

Julian stepped in, using his influence to shield her. He moved her into his sprawling estate, not as a guest, but as an equal. However, the transition was far from seamless. Isabella felt the phantom weight of her "maid" identity. She would wake up at 5:00 AM, the habits of a decade of service ingrained in her muscle memory, and find herself trying to clean the kitchen or polish the silver, only to be stopped by Julian.

"You don't need to do that, Isabella," he said one morning, finding her scrubbing the breakfast nook.

"It’s what I know," she replied, her eyes dark with a mix of defiance and sorrow. "I know how to be invisible. I’m not sure I know how to be the person everyone is looking for now."

Julian took the cloth from her hands, his touch grounding. "Then let me show you who you are when you aren't hiding. The world is watching the dancer, Isabella, but I’m watching the woman. And she deserves to exist without scrubbing the floor."
