Chapter 6 - Unmasking the Syndicate

By sunrise, the grand halls of the Sterling estate were no longer filled with trembling aristocrats, but with federal agents, forensic accountants, and armed enforcers.
The facade of corporate respectability that Julian Vance and the Vale family had built over decades was collapsing like a house of cards. Federal raids were simultaneously striking Vance’s downtown law offices and the Vale corporate headquarters. The digital ledgers recovered from Isabelle’s underground bunker provided an airtight paper trail of bribery, insider trading, and attempted murder.
In the mahogany study upstairs, Celeste Vale sat handcuffed to a heavy oak chair. Her gold sequined gown was stained with dust and spilled coffee. Her hair was disheveled, and her defiance had completely evaporated into whimpering panic as she stared at the federal arrest warrants scattered across the desk.
The heavy oak door swung open, and Adrian walked in.
He didn't look at her with anger. He looked at her with the chilling detachment of a judge viewing an insect under a microscope.
“You...” Celeste choked out, her voice cracking. “Adrian, please. We were going to be married! We were going to rule this city together! You can’t do this to me—my father will—”
“Your father is currently being hauled out of his penthouse in handcuffs by three federal marshals,” Adrian cut her off, his voice flat and merciless. “Your assets are frozen. Your corporation is being liquidated to pay back the victims of your family's embezzlement. And Julian Vance is singing like a canary to federal prosecutors to save himself from twenty years in a maximum-security cell.”
Celeste slumped forward, sobbing hysterically. “It wasn't just me... Julian made me do it! He said Isabelle was standing in the way of our merger!”

“You planted the bomb, Celeste,” Adrian said quietly, stepping closer until he towered over her. “You smiled in my face every day while wearing my sister’s blood on your hands. There is no deal for you. There is no bail. There is only prison.”
He turned his back on her, signaling for the federal agents to remove her from the room. As they dragged her away, her screaming curses echoed down the hallway until the heavy doors slammed shut, sealing her fate.
