Chapter 3 - The Fraud Revealed

Vanessa stared down at my arm—the arm that was supposed to be weak, nerve-damaged, and useless. The strength in my grip was undeniable. She twisted, trying to pull away, but my fingers dug deeper into her wrist.
"Let go of me!" she shrieked, panic finally piercing her cold exterior. "Martin! Daniel! Do something!"
Neither man moved. Martin looked as if he were about to vomit, his hands trembling violently as he stared at the financial documents spread across the table. Daniel took two steps backward, already calculating his escape routes.
"You thought you were so clever, didn't you?" I said, letting go of her wrist with enough force to send her stumbling back into her mother. "You thought a car crash was the perfect opportunity to strip me of the company my father built."
"Julian, please," Martin stammered, stepping forward with his hands raised defensively. "There’s been a misunderstanding. We were trying to protect the firm! If the press knew you were paralyzed—"
"I am not paralyzed," I cut in.
The words hung in the air like a lethal toxin.
Vanessa froze. Her mother clutched her pearl necklace so tightly the string snapped, sending white pearls bouncing across the polished floor.
"What... what did you say?" Vanessa gasped.
I turned to Clara. "Clara, show them."
Clara stood up smoothly. From the pocket of her pristine white apron, she pulled a small, sleek audio recording device. She pressed play, and a high-definition audio track echoed through the ballroom speakers, connected via the house sound system.
Vanessa’s voice burst through the speakers, loud and clear: “Make sure the doctor keeps him sedated. If Julian wakes up fully before the board meeting, he’ll reverse the share transfer. Once I have his signature on the conservatorship, we can cut his air supply at the care facility. It’ll look like heart failure from the trauma.”
Then Daniel’s voice followed: “And my cut? Thirty percent of the tech holdings, just like we agreed.”
“You’ll get your share, Daniel. Just make sure his uncle keeps the family quiet.”
The ballroom became a arena of horrified murmurs. The social elite of the city watched in real-time as a monstrous conspiracy crumbled before their eyes.
Daniel fell back against a pillar, his face ghostly white. "Julian... it wasn't my idea. She pushed me! She promised me—"
"Shut up, Daniel!" Vanessa screamed, turning on him like a cornered beast. "You spineless coward! You begged me to include you!"

"Dominic," I commanded coldly over the chaotic screaming. "Lock the doors."
Heavy iron locks clicked shut across all grand exits of the mansion. The trap was sprung.
