Chapter 5 - The Pier 39 Trap

Pier 39 was an abandoned industrial dock on the desolate southern shore of Lake Michigan. The old grain silos stood like rotting teeth against the grey winter sky, surrounded by cracked asphalt and rusted shipping containers.

The black armored Rolls-Royce crunched over the frozen gravel, pulling to a stop fifty yards from the main warehouse.

Alessio stepped out into the freezing wind. He wore his tailored charcoal coat over a heavy Kevlar vest. In his hand, he carried a heavy steel briefcase. Behind the wheel sat Theo, his face a grim mask of focus.

From the shadows of the warehouse, twelve men armed with assault rifles emerged, forming a semicircle. At the center stood Victor Delgado, dressed in a white mink coat, a gold-plated semi-automatic pistol tucked into his belt.

And next to Victor, forced to her knees on the icy concrete, was Sienna.

Her face was pale and bruised, her clothes torn, but her dark eyes flared with raw, unyielding fire the moment she saw Alessio walking toward her.

"Alessio, no!" she screamed, her voice hoarse from crying. "It’s a trap! He has snipers in the silos!"

A guard violently struck her across the jaw with the butt of a rifle. Sienna collapsed onto her side in the snow, but she did not cry out.

Alessio did not stop walking. His eyes locked onto Victor, his expression completely devoid of human emotion—the face of the Wolf of Chicago.

"You brought the transfers?" Victor asked, a triumphant smirk spreading across his scarred face.

"They are in the case," Alessio said, holding up the briefcase. "Let her go, Victor. You have what you asked for."

"You always were too arrogant, Alessio," Victor chuckled, stepping behind Sienna and pulling his gold pistol, aiming it directly at her head. "Did you really think I’d let you walk away from this? With your routes and your life? Once you sign, both of you stay in Lake Michigan under six feet of ice."

Victor signaled his men. "Kill him."

Alessio didn't flinch. He simply flipped a small switch on the handle of the briefcase and dropped it to the ground.
