Chapter 8 - The Wolf's Sanctuary

When the doors of the private elevator slid open, Aria and Elara were standing in the hallway, guarded by two massive, broad-shouldered enforcers who looked completely terrified of making the little girls cry.

The moment Sienna stepped out, both twins let out a piercing cry.

"MAMA!"

Sienna dropped her blanket and fell to her knees, opening her arms wide. Aria and Elara slammed into her, throwing their small arms around her neck, sobbing violently.

"I'm here, I'm here, my babies," Sienna wept, kissing their hair, their faces, their tiny hands over and over again. "Mama’s here. You're safe."

Alessio stood beside Silas, watching the three of them. The heavy weight that had rested on his chest for four years seemed to snap, leaving behind a sudden, overwhelming warmth.

Elara looked up from her mother’s shoulder, her gray eyes fixing onto Alessio. She detached herself from Sienna, walked slowly over to Alessio, and wrapped her small arms around his solid leg.

"You brought Mama back," Elara said softly. "Like you promised."

Alessio crouched down, ignoring the sharp sting in his taped shoulder. He lifted Elara into his arms, then reached down and pulled Aria up into his other arm.

He looked at Sienna, extending a hand to help her up.

"This war is over," Alessio said, his voice ringing with absolute finality. "No more running. No more hiding. You are a Ferro now. All of you."
