Chapter 6 - Blood on the Ice

The briefcase wasn't holding papers. It was filled with three pounds of military-grade plastic explosives paired with a high-intensity flashbang charge.
BOOM.
A blinding flash of white light and a thunderous shockwave shattered the freezing air, throwing Victor and four of his guards off their feet.
Instantly, the quiet silence of the docks was shattered by the sharp, metallic crack of heavy sniper fire. From two miles away, hidden in the blizzard towers, Silas’s elite marksmen began picking off Delgado’s guards with high-calibre thermal rifles.
Alessio moved like a predator unleashed. Before the smoke cleared, he drew twin suppressed Sig Sauer pistols from beneath his coat.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
Three guards went down before they could raise their weapons. Alessio advanced through the smoke, firing with terrifying, mathematical precision. He didn't seek cover; he moved forward, a force of nature fueled by four years of stolen time and rage.
A bullet caught Alessio in the shoulder, spinning him slightly, but the Kevlar absorbed the worst of it. He dropped a fourth guard with a shot to the throat, stepped over the body, and reached Sienna just as two Delgado loyalists tried to drag her toward a getaway boat.
Alessio vaulted over a wooden crate, shooting the first guard through the forehead and driving his combat knife into the neck of the second.
He grabbed Sienna by her jacket, pulling her up against his chest. "Can you run?"
Sienna stared at him, her lips bleeding, her dark eyes filled with shock, love, and fury. She reached down, grabbed a fallen submachine gun from the concrete, and racked the slide.
"I can do better than run," she spat.
Together, they fought their way back toward the Rolls-Royce as Silas’s heavy tactical squad breached the perimeter from amphibious assault craft, sweeping the docks with overwhelming firepower.
Victor Delgado, bleeding from the explosion, tried to crawl toward an armored SUV. Alessio caught up to him in three long strides, grabbing Victor by the hair and slamming his face onto the hood of the car with bone-crushing force.
"Wait! Alessio! Please!" Victor choked out, his arrogance evaporating into pure terror. "We can share the ports! I'll give you half of Florida!"
Alessio leaned down, his mercury-gray eyes cold as the frozen lake behind them.

"You touched my family," Alessio whispered. "There are no negotiations for that."
Alessio pulled the trigger.
